I'm learning that you shouldn't underestimate the power of being surrounded by things you find inspirational - even if it's just a simple sketch of a dinosaur! For today's blog post, I'm going to take you on a short tour of things that inspire me and make their way into my daily routine to keep me thinking up new, fresh ideas (like this collection's photos!)
A ridiculously simple and consistent way to get you in the right frame of mind is music. While some days call for Explosions in the Sky (typically days when I'm working on learning HTML!) most days lately, Katie Herzig is what I'm loving:
Spending a few minutes watching a music video that makes you smile often times is the best investment of time in the long run.
I've recently discovered a really adorable shop called Charm & Gumption. With mantras like "Just Start" and "Hustle" written beautifully, a quick scroll through her Facebook page is great way to get the creative juices flowing.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for your productivity is to step. away. from. the. computer. Crazy, I know! But I find that it's amazing the bright ideas that come when I'm not plugged in. When I'm not forcing my mind to follow a certain path. And why not bedazzle your office space (or your car, apparently) in the process? Have you gotten into the Washi Tape Craze?
I'm loving how accessible Pinterest is making little DIY projects. For me, it's all about the mini herb gardens. What lovely, fresh scents to work along side - and they're pretty hard to kill. I'm currently enjoying a bright yellow planter with little cilantro shoots, but I may have just overwatered it and it's losing the battle of being photogenic. Sometimes, all it takes to inspire me is to browse a few gorgeous summer statement necklaces from 31 Bits. It's funny how being surrounded by beauty makes me want to create more beauty.
