Help me decide!

I knew I wanted to create a fresh version of our hangtags for the new fall collection, especially with the debut of our new logo, so I started diving into Pinterest for inspiration: thicker paper, embossing details, elevated design.
But no matter what I came up with, it just wasn’t quite right.
The ideas just didn’t match the story or the quality of this new collection.
Then, last week as I was on a Zoom call with Rao, the man who runs an artisan group out of India, about die cutting some ADORABLE leather ornaments I’m making into a DIY kit for the holidays (more on that later!!) it hit me: they could also die cut leather hangtags for us!
A die cut is like a cookie cutter approach to cutting leather that requires a specific machine, but is much more precise, as you can imagine, than hand cutting each piece - not to mention way faster. Our current artisan partners don’t have a die cutter, so this option never felt like it was on the table.
I had dreamed of leather hangtags before, but besides not having the die cutter, something about the all leather design didn’t feel finished.
That’s when Rao mentioned their team also works with stationery. We’re not expanding into paper goods anytime soon (don’t @ me!), but it meant they had the skills & materials to work with high quality paper.
That was it!
Not only could we mix the leather & the thick paper, but instead of just going to an online printer to have our hangtags made, we could employ artisans in India - perfectly in line with our mission!
I’ve decided I love the sleek look of everything being embossed into the leather & paper - which just means pressed into vs. printed on.
Here’s a look at our new logo showing what embossing looks like on the leather:

The final hangtag design will be a small square layered over a longer rectangle.
But I cannot decide:Do we put the leather on top of the paper, or the paper on top of the leather?
This is where you come in.
My mockups are very DIY (think Canva & scissors on my desk), but I’d love your vote and your imagination.
Because even small details like this help tell the bigger story of craftsmanship & care behind every bag.
So…are you on Team Option One or Team Option Two?
