Austin Certified B Corp

Here it is! Our Big Announcement:

Hi! My name is Jen Lewis & I’m the Founder of Purse & Clutch.

When I started the company back in 2011, I certainly never dreamed of the impact that we’d be able to make both around the world by providing fair wage employment to our artisans partners and here with the incredible community of people who have rallied around our mission & have supported me each step of the way.

For the last 11 months I’ve been answering in-depth questions about every aspect of Purse & Clutch. I went through a comprehensive Impact Assessment that encouraged deep conversations with each of our artisan partners, proving with detailed documentation that we are, indeed, doing the good work we say we’re doing.

I found out last last month that we did it!

We were assessed in the 5 areas:

  • How we care for the Environment
  • How we run our Company
  • How we treat our Employees
  • How engage with our Community
  • How we honor our Customers

We scored high enough in every area to officially achieve the B Corp Certification!

Now a certified B Corp

Does anyone know what the B in B Corp stands for? Benefit - as in benefit for all.

Which is not, maybe how all businesses operate.

When you see the B Corp logo, you know that company has been verified by a third party that they take into account the impact they’re making on ALL stakeholders of our business - our artisans, our artisan’s suppliers, & of course you, our customer.

Along with this announcement, I’m also thrilled to share that we’re now offering custom branding for boutiques, personal brands, fundraisers, conferences, etc! Adding this offering is going to allow us to scale to be able to support even more fair wage employment for our artisans in India, Ethiopia & Mexico. We’re even on the cusp of adding an additional artisan painter in Mexico later this year!

With your continued support - liking posts, making purchases, sending me encouraging DMs and, of course, showing up to events - I would have never been able to get to this place of being able truly scale the impact we’re having around the world through fair wage employment.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for walking alongside me in the journey!
