When I started dreaming of how to showcase our Fall / Winter Collection in a Lookbook, I knew I wanted to strike a certain vibe where the beauty of the handbags was really at the forefront. The details in this new collection are subtle, neutral, & stunning so I began searching for ethically made pops of glamor to pair with our purses & clutches.
One rabbit hole took me to The Good Trade's super helpful article 9 Eco-Friendly Sunglasses You Can Wear This Summer & Beyond. I was immediately drawn to the sleek lines & modern shapes of MODO Eyewear. Imagine my delight when they eagerly agree to partner with us!
MODO has several different lines of eyewear - each with a different story on how they are doing good in the world.
These beauties from their ECO line are made with 95% recycled content or biobased materials, planting a tree for every frame a customer purchases. Since they started this line in 2009, ECO has planted over 1.5 million trees in partnership with the NGO Trees for the Future!
Trees for the Future gives seeds to farmers in Sub-Sarahan Africa. By planting specific types of trees and crops in a systematic manner over a four year period, families can change their lives forever. Forest Gardens provide families with sustainable food sources, livestock feed, products to sell, fuel wood & up to a 500% increase in their annual income.
In addition to the thoughtful & effective give back program, these frames are incredibly lightweight & have this gorgeous subtle color fade from black to white that perfectly showcases their attention to design detail.
These 450 sunglasses are part of a give back program that partners with Seva, a global nonprofit eye care organization that transforms lives & strengthens communities by restoring sight & preventing blindness. Since 1978, Seva has helped nearly 4 million people regain their sight in more than 20 countries. Seva trains local eye care providers & develops self-sustaining eye programs around the world. Through its many partnerships, Seva provides critical eye care to underserved communities, especially women, children, and indigenous peoples.
The design details on these sunglasses are really incredible. They hit the perfect blend of luxury & classic style - the gold accents really taking the design to the next level. I also couldn't believe how lightweight these frames were & as we're entering in the final stretch of summer here in Austin (aka HOW many days in a row of 100+ degrees??) these are the only kind of sunglasses I want to be wearing!
