Behind the Scenes: Feminique Photoshoot

The Feminique Collection this Spring is filled with fun block prints, pops of color & whimsy, and a fantastic Floral screen print that we fall more & more in love with the more we see it. So we wanted to find locations & outfits that fit the vivacious vibe.

When I was in New York in January at a conference to discover new artisan groups, one of the first booths I stopped in was Mata Traders. Personally, I've made several purchases from them over the years & am always eyeing what new block prints & screen prints they have coming out for their cotton dresses. At the conference I immediately connected with the lovely ladies running the booth & they agreed to send over a few of my favorites of their dresses for the shoot. We even got to pick from their fresh new Spring Line that's coming out on tomorrow (March 23rd)!

We settled on these two darling dresses (both with pockets, BTW...):

Let's just say it was SUPER hard to send them back after the shoot! Definitely check them out tomorrow when their new Spring dresses debut.

As I began to scout locations, my initial thought was to shoot at the iconic Zilker Park, but before the rain we just had in Austin everything was pretty brown & dead. Not exactly the bright Spring feel we were going for. So I made a last minute switch to the Blue Owl Brewing after checking out their tap room & delicious sour beers with my husband Jonathan the weekend before the shoot. I couldn't be happier with how the photos turned out!

Suzy of Blue Owl was kind enough to let us use their bright & sunny porch while the staff was getting ready to open & the striped walls paired with the natural fence made for a perfect backdrop. Stop by this weekend if you're in Austin & check them out!

Spring Handbag Photoshoot

After Blue Owl, we headed over to Mitscoots to take a few photos in front of their new location since we were going to be celebrating their grand opening later that week. We ended up wandering over to Paper + Craft Pantry because of their adorable wall. (I later looked them up & am pretty much planning on taking every amazing embroidery, hand lettering, craft workshop available - seriously swooning over their style!)

We met a new friend who requested to have his photograph taken ->

Ethical Fashion Shoot

Yes. Photoshoots with Janelle are as fun as they look!

You may recognize Janelle from both past photoshoots as well as our Austin Area Ethical Style Director. She's as knowledgeable about Fair Trade & Ethical Fashion as she is fun! You can have her (or one of our amazing Ethical Style Ambassadors) come to your home or office for a P&C Party or Workshop that we'll design alongside of you. Sign up soon & we can even bring not-yet-launched Spring Collections!
